Types Of Materials Needed for A Deck

Here are some materials needed for a deck:

Deck boards – The boards you use for your deck will depend on the type of decking you are using. For a traditional wooden deck, you will need wood boards that are at least 3/4" thick. For a composite or synthetic deck, you will need thinner boards that are at least 1/2" thick.

Nails – You will need screws and nails to attach the boards together. Use either screws or nails that are specifically designed for decks. Do not use standard nails or screws because they may not hold up well to weather and wear.  If you want to know more about  deck builders in Castle Rock you may visit Outdoor Designs.

Lumberjacks – If you do not have experience building a deck yourself, it is best to call in a lumberjack. Lumberjacks have special tools and training that make them better suited to build decks than most people. They also have access to pre-cut lumber that can make the process go much faster.

Cement – You will need mortar to attach the boards together and seal them against moisture and decay. Mixes specifically designed for decks come in bags or cans that typically contain between 2 and 4 pounds of cement per gallon of water. Be sure to read the directions carefully before beginning construction so you don't end up working on your deck all day long only to find out that you didn't mix the cement properly or used the wrong kind of mortar!

Lawn or garden tools – If you are using a composite or synthetic deck, you will need a saw to cut the boards into the desired shape. You will also need a hand saw and a jigsaw to cut the notches in the boards for the screws. A power mower can be used to smooth out the edges of the boards after they have been attached.
